Reasons why Cash is better than Cans

Not only does cash feed many more people, but dealing with cans is a logistical hassle. Think about hundreds or thousands of loose cans. They need to be transported, weighed, checked for expiration, sorted, etc. It is an enormous amount of work.

Almost all food pantries are staffed by volunteers (often older retired people), so dealing with all those cans is tough. Not to mention there is no inventory control with donated cans.
